Celebrates 65th Independence Day
ISLAMABAD, KARACHI, (SANA): The celebrations of the 65th Independence Day of the country on Tuesday began with the roaring echoes of a 31-gun salute in the federal capital, while 21-gun salutes were conducted in the provincial capitals, including Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Gilgit and Muzaffarabad. Special prayers were offered after Fajar prayers for the progress, solidarity and prosperity of the country.
According to details, 31-gun salute was conducted in Islamabad sports complex in the federal capital while 31-gun salute was conducted in Fortress stadium in Lahore , 21-gun salutes was conducted in Jinah Park Peshawar and 21-gun salutes was also conducted in provincial capitals of the Sindh and Balochistan , Gilgit and Muzaffarabad
Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad and Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah arrived at Quaid’s mosoleum along with members of the Cabinet. They laid wreaths and said fateha prayers there. The Pakistani flag was also hoisted on the occasion.
While talking to the media, the chief minister and governor of Sindh said that by standing under the shade of the mausoleum, they are reviving their commitment to the nation.
Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad said on the occasion that the country is confronted with various challenges and there is need of the unity among all the political parties to find out the solutions of the problems, adding that no single party can resolve the problems which the country is facing nor the government can do that
The ceremony held at the mausoleum of national poet, Allama Iqbal, was attended by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Director-General Rangers Major General Hilal Hussain and other prominent personalities.
Children participating at the event sang national songs, expressing their fervour and zeal.
During his address, Shahbaz Sharif mentioned the efforts made by Muslims in the wake of independence in 1947. DG Rangers raised the Pakistani flag at the ceremony held at Wagah border.
Independence Day celebrations held at Police Line in Peshawar were attended by Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Hoti, who also raised the flag at the event.
While in Quetta people celebrated Independence Day with fervor.
